WISPNOG sessions drastically differ from the
traditional listen and learn format popular at most
tradeshows today. WISPNOG sessions do not have
"speakers" per say, rather, qualified moderators
are
chosen and given a small amount of time (typically 5-10
minutes), to "jump-start" the session with a particular
position or solution. Thereafter, the session will
be turned over to the audience to talk and debate the
topic further.
Symposium sessions are organized in the
following manner:
A general topic of discussion would be chosen in
advance (e.g., WiMAX, WISPA, WISP
Financials/Mergers/Acquisitions, VoIP)
Several Panelists are, based upon submitted
position papers and qualifications, chosen in
advance to present
Each session is allotted approximately 1
hour and 30 minutes of time (with a 10 minute break in
between sessions)
Panelists get 5-10 minutes each to "present" their
positions
After initial presentations, the session would
open up to the floor - everyone gets their chance to
ask a question / make a statement, and everyone has
the opportunity to answer - it is the moderator's
responsibility to ensure that discussion continues in
a smooth manner.
